License and Contract Status Check
We list FortiGuard and FortiCare end dates, the current bundle tier and registration status per serial number, and consolidate multi-device estates into a single license table.
We plan your FortiGuard security bundle (ATP, UTP, Enterprise Protection) and FortiCare support contract before they expire, procure them, register them to your appliance and verify that the services are actually updating again.
FortiGate license renewal extends the term of your appliance's FortiGuard security services (IPS, antivirus, web and DNS filtering) and its FortiCare support contract. Sora Yazılım handles it end to end: we check license status, recommend the right bundle and term for the appliance's role, procure the renewal, register it to the device and confirm that updates are flowing again.
An expired license does not switch a FortiGate off, but it removes most of its protection. Stateful firewalling, NAT, routing and VPN keep working; IPS signatures, the antivirus database and web categories stop updating, and the appliance soon becomes blind to new threats. When FortiCare lapses, access to technical support, hardware replacement (RMA) and FortiOS updates ends as well. We walk through the scenario in what happens when a FortiGate license expires.
A renewal involves two separate contracts, and their end dates can differ. FortiGuard is the subscription that carries Fortinet's threat intelligence to the appliance, sold in three tiers: Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) covers IPS, Anti-Malware Protection and Application Control; Unified Threat Protection (UTP) adds URL, DNS and video filtering plus botnet/C2 blocking; Enterprise Protection builds on UTP with Inline CASB, DLP, IoT Detection and Attack Surface Security. FortiCare is the support contract covering technical support, RMA and firmware access; according to Fortinet, all three FortiGuard bundles include FortiCare Premium. We compare the tiers in FortiGuard UTP vs ATP vs Enterprise Protection and the support levels in FortiCare Premium vs Elite.
Renewal time is the right moment to re-select the bundle for the job the appliance does today, rather than extending the old one by reflex. UTP usually fits an office whose users reach the internet through the FortiGate, ATP an internal segmentation or DMZ firewall, and Enterprise Protection an organization that must see SaaS, data and IoT traffic. Some services depend on the model and FortiOS version: according to a Fortinet data sheet footnote, for example, Inline CASB and Video Filtering are not available on the 40F series from FortiOS 7.4.4 onward. That is why our bundle recommendation always comes with the data sheet footnotes.
If you run several appliances, we recommend aligning the contracts to a common end date (co-termination). It does not lower the price by itself, but it removes the risk of one forgotten renewal switching services off and turns renewals into a single budget line. Contracts are available for 1, 3 and 5 years; the 12, 36 and 60 suffixes in Fortinet part numbers state the term in months. A multi-year term assumes the appliance will remain adequate in capacity and lifecycle for the whole period. Our complete FortiGate license renewal guide covers the full process.
Every renewal is also a "renew or replace" decision. Fortinet publishes end-of-sale and end-of-support dates for each model; a multi-year license for an appliance close to end of support, or for one that hits its CPU ceiling with SSL inspection enabled, is spending you will soon repeat. The FortiOS roadmap matters too: FortiOS 7.6 removed SSL VPN from entry-level models such as the 40F, 60F/61F and 90G/91G, and 7.6.3 (April 2025) replaced tunnel mode with IPsec VPN on every FortiGate model. We explain the criteria in what drives FortiGate pricing and the FortiOS 7.6 SSL VPN migration plan. If replacement is on the table, the 2026 SMB firewall selection guide is a good starting point, and current models are listed in our FortiGate catalog.
Sora Yazılım is an independent solution and procurement partner for Fortinet products. We do not publish fixed per-device prices: the renewal cost depends on model, bundle, term, support level, exchange rate and procurement timing, so every quote is prepared in writing for your specific appliances. For a general overview, see our FortiGate price list page.
Out of scope: a license renewal does not change the appliance configuration. Attaching newly licensed services to security profiles (for example web and DNS filtering when moving from ATP to UTP) is separate configuration work and is quoted separately. Hardware faults follow the vendor's RMA process, and routine firmware, backup and rule maintenance belongs to our Firewall Maintenance and Management Service.
A renewal is more than an order line. We cover it in six areas, from the status check to verification.
We list FortiGuard and FortiCare end dates, the current bundle tier and registration status per serial number, and consolidate multi-device estates into a single license table.
ATP, UTP or Enterprise Protection based on the appliance's role in the network, or a single à-la-carte subscription when one service is all you need.
Where Premium is enough and where Elite (shorter response targets, access to LTS FortiOS releases) is justified, plus whether Priority RMA is needed where there is no HA.
A plan to align contracts that end on different dates to a single end date, and a reminder calendar that runs ahead of each expiry.
A reasoned report on whether renewing or refreshing the hardware is more economical, based on end-of-sale and end-of-support dates, capacity usage and FortiOS compatibility.
Written quote, order, registration of the contract to the appliance serial number, and a check that the device has synced with FortiGuard and its signatures are current.
The goal is the correct contract registered and active on the appliance before the end date. For licenses that have already expired, we follow the same sequence on a faster track.
We collect model, serial number, FortiOS version, current bundle and end dates. Output: a per-device license table.
We review the appliance's role, capacity usage and end-of-support date, then recommend bundle, term and renew-or-replace.
A written quote fixes bundle, term, FortiCare level and common end date; the order is placed once you approve.
The contract is registered to the appliance serial number in the FortiCare support portal, and the device syncs with FortiGuard servers.
We confirm the new end dates and signature updates, then set up reminders ahead of the next expiry (for example at 90, 60 and 30 days).
A status check for a FortiGate whose bundle nobody remembers, followed by renewal with the right bundle and term before the end date.
A co-termination plan that aligns head-office and branch appliances to one end date and one renewal budget.
Fast-tracked procurement and activation for an appliance whose services have stopped, followed by checks that signatures and security profiles really work.
Analysis of whether replacing the appliance is cheaper than renewing it, and planning of the configuration move to a new FortiGate if needed.
For a clinic, production line or branch running on a single appliance: weighing FortiCare Elite and Priority RMA against the cost of an outage.
Global vendor solutions we position within this service scope.
We run firmware planning, configuration backups, rule clean-up, HA and log checks for your firewall on a fixed schedule, with FortiGate as our focus, and can take over day-to-day operation as well.
CI/CD pipeline setup, container orchestration, observability and zero-downtime deployment processes that put your infrastructure on a modern foundation.

A renewal planned before the end date avoids protection gaps and rushed bundle decisions. Let's start with a status check.
